Students at Welburn Hall School College will study a vocational option each year. This gives our students experience of different industries and they are awarded relevant accreditation in these areas.
Catering and Hospitality
Catering and Hospitality is run onsite at Welburn Hall School. Students have the opportunity to develop their cooking skills in a kitchen and to learn about customer service when preparing staff lunches and cooking items for the school tuck shop. This provides our students with new skills and the chance to prepare for the world of work, in a friendly and co-operative environment. This course is accredited with Open Awards.
Construction
The Construction course is run by York College. The students can gain Entry Level City and Guilds accreditation in construction. The course covers carpentry, plumbing, brickwork, tiling and mold casting. Health and Safety in the work place and learning about appropriate clothing (PPE) is also covered on the course.
Animal Care and Horticulture
The Animal Care and Horticulture course is run on our school farm. Students are given a range of opportunities to work with animals in all areas of their care, health and wellbeing. Students also plant and grow fruit and vegetables to use in cooking lessons and to sell on our school roadside stall. This course is accredited with Open Awards.
