Welburn Hall entered eleven students for the annual inter-school athletics meeting at York university. It was a particularly successful meeting for the school as three gold medals were won and many second and third places gained. Well done to all those who took part and a special thanks to those staff in supporting role. It was a real team effort!

RDA Dressage and Countryside Regional Finals Success for Welburn Hall Pupils

Two pupils from Riding for the Disabled Welburn Hall School Group had success this weekend when competing at the R.D.A. Dressage and Countryside Regional Finals for North East and South Yorkshire at the Pennine Community Centre at Wakefield.

One pupil came joint 1st in the Dressage and 1st in the Countryside Challenge and another came joint 1st in the Dressage and 2nd in the Countryside Challenge.  They have both qualified for the R.D.A. National Championships which are held in July at Hartpury in Gloucestershire.

Light it up Blue for World Autism Month

Blue world autismBlue world autismTomorrow (Friday 31st March) we are holding a "Light It Up Blue" day in support of World Autism Month. The school dining hall will be set up with blue place mats, blue cups, blue fairy lights and blue balloons. If any staff and pupils wish to join in, please feel free to wear anything blue for the day (there is no charge).Thousands of iconic landmarks and buildings will join the hundreds of thousands of homes and communities around the world to "light blue" in support of people living with autism. Autism friendly events and educational activities are taking place all month across the globe to increase understanding and acceptance to further support people with autism.

KS3 trip to Tropical World

Both our KS3 classes had a fabulous trip to Tropical World in Leeds on Thursday 24rd March. It is home to the largest collection of tropical plants in the UK outside Kew Gardens. The children had a chance to see many different animals and birds in a natural environment. The weather was amazing and the children had lunch in the park and played on the park equipment. Eco Recycling Day 14th March 2017

On Tuesday 14th March we held an Eco / Recycling Day with visiting workshop leaders, Jeff, Waste Campaign Officer, who shared his ideas on not wasting food and on composting – each child took home some worms for their own wormery! And Powerdown Pete who helped us think about saving electricity. We turned empty yogurt pots into bird feeders, and created garden ornaments out of recycled bottles and up-cycled a chair.

World Book Day

On Friday 3rd March we enjoyed another collapsed curriculum day to celebrate World Book Day. We enjoyed different activities throughout the day including an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ treasure hunt around the grounds, creating a story sack for the book ‘Aliens in underpants’ and designing ‘Illuminated Letters’ to create book art.

Pancake Day

Following an assembly, focused this year on British traditions linked to Pancake day  or Shrove Tuesday, all pupils participated in our yearly pancake races and Scarborough skipping. Congratulations to our Pancake Race winners!
