Welcome back to Welburn for a New Year and new term!

Posted 31/1/2017

What a start we have had already with a wonderful visit from Archbishop Sentamu Staff and children prepared for the visit with great enthusiasm and commitment. A special, framed photograph of Welburn Hall was presented to the Archbishop and he was clearly very touched by the gesture. Thank you to everyone involved in making it a success, including Rev Sue Binks from our local church.

At this time of year, we naturally start turning our attention to Spring and the possibilities of new life and new starts. Many of our older students are undertaking Functional Skills exams this year, or completing project work for accreditation. This requires a lot of hard work by the teaching teams and the students, but worth it for the success this will bring and the sense of achievement!

The governing body and I are working hard on the budget, including undertaking a restructure of staff for 2017/18. This will ensure that the structure is fit for purpose in these challenging and ever changing times in education. Welburn Hall is a very popular school and we are currently experiencing very high demand for limited places, so my focus is on developing an excellent curriculum which can meet the needs of as wide a range of pupils as possible. Individualised learning and planning, combined with new training for staff will ensure that our pupils receive the best education we can deliver.

As ever, there are several events in the calendar (Please check the Key Events tab) and we would appeal to parents to join the Home School Association or to help in any way you can. Thank you for all the help so far this year!

The daffodils are already poking through in some of the flowerbeds and we look forward to the transformation in the grounds. Welburn Hall is a very special environment, which we intend to develop for many educational purposes. I am looking forward, with the Senior Leadership Team and NYCC, to leading this transformation through the school improvement plan.

Best wishes for now
