Headteacher SummerNews

Posted 4/6/2019

What a busy 4 weeks we have had already this term! SO many teachers providing accreditation opportunities in Key Stage 4 and 5, in subjects as diverse as Functional Skills English, maths and ICT, all the way to Duke of Edinburgh award!

Every single member of staff involved deserves a huge thank you for the hours of work moderating and checking evidence before sending it off. The office staff helped enormously too, with Anne being Exams Officer and invigilating Year 6 SATS. I want to say a huge thank you to the staff but more importantly we are celebrating the perseverance of the students themselves; well done everyone!

On Friday we bid farewell to Mrs Brearley, a teacher who is leaving us. Thank you to ‘Mrs B’ for all your work with LKS3, rewards systems, College, World Book Days and mindfulness to name but a few things! Good luck in your new job!

Last week we had to interview 14 candidates, shortlisted from 26 applications, for 3 full-time teaching posts. I am thrilled to say we have appointed to all these posts for September! After half-term, teachers and teaching assistants will be preparing for a transition fortnight at the end of term.

We are planning to move all groups into their new September timetable in order to allow for a smooth transition into the new curriculum for next year. It is a very exciting time in the development of the school!

In the second summer half-term, we will have the usual heady mix of residentials, trips, productions, transitions and of course the Garden Party! This year the Garden Party is on 6th July; please come along and support our school. This year we are fundraising for IT equipment for classrooms and need to raise several thousand pounds!

I look forward to the next half term, although it will be sad to say goodbye to our Y14 and Y11 leavers, but happy to say hello to all our new pupils!
