Magnificent maths day – Wednesday 5th July

All school classes joined together for a special off-timetable day this Wednesday – Magnificent Maths Day 2017. It was a wonderful and exciting day, only made possible by the support and extra effort from our hard-working staff and pupils. I shall pass on some quotes from the children to give you a taster of what happened….

Holli M “We made a fruit kebab. It had a pattern. Mine was strawberry, grape, strawberry, grape.”

Dawid B “We ran across the field with a wet sponge and squeezed as much water in the jug as we could. It was like 'It's a knockout'. Each team had to estimate the amount of water and then measure it carefully.”

Benji “I did some train maths. We found out about numbers on train tickets and punched holes. We had to pay for food with the right money.”

Bethany “We estimated scoops of compost to fill a plant pot. We chose a plant and then measured it in centimetres.”

Destinie “We used Tyler’s hands to measure the pony.”

George “I found out the pony was taller than the metre ruler.”

Bea “At the end we counted 10 strokes of the pony each.”

Well done to all our pupils for working in a different group and helping each other out to complete challenges. THEY WERE AMAZING!

LKS3 Learning

This half term we have been enjoying our cross curricular topic 'Holidays'. We have been reading a story called Matilda Jane - beside the sea. The multi sensory story took us on a journey back in time where we dressed up in costume and went on a real Victorian holiday.
